End of the Year Banquet

Is it already the end of FIRST YEAR?? WOW, I can't believe how much I've learned, forgotten, and re-learned over the course of the year. The same will be repeated again second year, I'm sure.

End of the year celebration

My class celebrated the end of our year with an Annual Western U Banquet in our very own school hometown, Pomona. Stop laughing! It was fun. Sure, the view was of the 60 freeway...But fun, nonetheless with the people who were my companions and best friends throughout the year.

First year was full of anxiety, stress, coffee (I'm officially dependent), lack of sleep, and studying. Regardless of the negatives, I know that each one of us can look back and see the joy that we've experienced and be proud of the amount of knowledge and wisdom we've gained in just one year. Of course, I can't end this without saying a a big THANK YOU to my supportive family members, boyfriend, and friends outside of school. Thank you for allowing me to vent, complain, and speak to you in a language that don't include the words neutrophil, encephalitis, or sacral torsion.

Here are a few photos from the night. One of my favorites is Vince gettin' down with one of our Surgeon specialists. We had a few of our other faculty members there who were having loads of fun on the dance floor too!

My dress was $20.00 (sale rack!) from a small boutique in Long Beach, called Doppochic right next to Le Creperie.

The Nguyens. Jen and I are always in the same group because of our last name. That's how we met!

A Mother's Love

Busy Christmas!Add Image

This was the first year I spent Mother's Day with out my Mom. Instead, I celebrated the special day with my family including my Grandmother and my Aunts who have been like my "Moms" out in California. It wasn't the same though and I wished I could have celebrated it with my Mom like the years before. I stumbled upon this beautiful Mother's Day poem and sent it to my mom via snail mail. I hope it touches your heart as it did mine.

A Mother's Love
by Michael O. Adesanya

There are times only when a Mother's love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappointments
And calm all our fears.

There are times when only a Mother's love
Can share the joy we fell
When something we've dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real

There are times when only a Mother's faith
Can help on life's way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day

For a Mother's heart and a Mother's faith
And a Mother's steadfast love
Were fashioned by the angels
And sent from God above
